I usually take Turmeric on a daily basis, only due to some claims that it can prevent or help to cure cancer. Now, while I can't imagine that taking a few turmeric capsules will cure anyone, I do have hope that maybe taking the turmeric supplements could assist in the prevention. I specifically like these ones from SWANSON because they use the Phytosome Technology to deliver the turmeric: Phytosome Technology creates a vehicle that can carry active ingredients where they need to go which maximises drug bioavailabilty. The active ingredients are integrated into phospholipid micelles for optimum delivery and absorption. They come in a dark green plastic bottle filled to the top and are a medium - large capsule

Works wonders for my joint pain

Tumeric is a herb well known for fighting inflammation and protecting the body from free radicals, which is the main reason I take it. There are many symptoms of inflammation, but I think it is safe to say that too much of it can cause havoc in the body, so I take this as a precaution. Tumeric has also gone through proved studies that purport it's effectiveness in improved brain function and lowering the risk of brain disease. This Swanson's brand also has the addition of phytosome, which increases the absortion of herbal extracts, which can only be a good thing, as our bodies need all the help they can get in absorbing the benefits of this great herb.

Swanson Ultra Turmeric Phytosome with Meriva When I ordered these I wasn't really sure what the differences were between 'Turmeric Phytosome with Meriva' and a normal Turmeric supplement. After some research I found out that this delivers an advanced curcumin which is 29 times more bioavailable than ordinary curcumin. Which basically means that much more of this is absorbed into the body than taking normal Turmeric. There are 60 capsules supplied, this works out to be 2 months supply. The daily does is just a single capsule taken with food and water, with each capsule providing 500mg of Turmeric Phytosome. There are many claimed benefits of taking Turmeric, some of the claims are that it can help with the following: Depression, Type 2 Diabetes, Viral Infections, Premenstrual Syndrome, High Cholesterol, Alzheimer's Disease, Arthritis, Cancer, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Headaches and Acne. The capsules are easy to swallow with a glass of water, they do not have any nasty taste that I could detect. I suffer from arthritic pain in my legs and other joints in my body and my physio suggested I try supplements to help reduce the inflammation that frequently flares up causing me to have excruciating pain. Turmeric is a natural flowering plant, which along with anti-inflammatory properties is also linked with preventing heart disease. I've taken one capsule a day, and had no negative side effects, but the frequency of the inflammation in the joins in my knee has reduced which has been fantastic. I think these are great value for money and you have enough capsules to last you for two months. I hope you found this review helpful.

Swanson Ultra Turmeric Phytosome with Meriva 500mg, 60 Capsules. This is a good supplement for me to take as I suffer with fibromyalgia that consists of a lot of joint pain! It does say to take 1 a day but I've been taking 2 per day which is perfectly safe. I have noticed less joint inflammation..... I shall carry on taking them until all used up. Turmeric is a strange spice. It is probably better known for its bright colouring than it is for its slightly bitter flavour. And you'd actually be forgiven for that, especially when we consider it is the colouration that it offers food for which it is most famous. The colour in question sits somewhere between ochre and mustard and it is most notoriously synonymous with curries. The interesting thing is that it is actually that very colouring agent which is the active antioxidant which renders Turmeric such a powerful herbal remedy. It is called Curcumin and it comes from the Rhizome, or root, of the plant. From the same family as Ginger, the Rhizome actually bears striking similarities in appearance to its tangy cousin.
